This method removes a skin bump (eg. moles or cysts) completely by cutting around it and removing the sides and the roots as well. there is no residual root for regrowth. However, the resulting defect requires closure by sutures leaving suture tracks and a line scar.
This is less cosmetically appealing than a shave excision but is the treatment of choice if trying to minimize risk of recurrence.
